Introducing the Panerai Luminor California 8 Days DLC PAM 779, the Italian brand has combined different elements from their historical watches. Similar to the 2015 Luminor 1950 California, though this new and improved Luminor California features a larger case,  44  mm, and a “Bund” leather strap.

The titanium case is coated with diamond-like carbon (DLC), hence the name, that is a dark, scratch-resistant material. Although the new Luminor California may be quite chunky it is still very wearable and similar to other Panerai models. It houses the P.5000, in-house movement with an eight-day power reserve.

Those wondering why the name “California”is used to name this Panerai Luminor. This refers to the dial that contains both Arabic and Roman numerals that separates the top and bottom halves of the dial. California dials were only found on Radiomir watches, and since have been introduced to Luminor models.

The two-part strap is known in military watch circles as “Bund” strap, that German military, Bundeswehr, once issued straps to aviators. These “Bund” straps gives it a sporty look without being too excessive.
