The latest watch releasing is the Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Phoenix with five key complications: tourbillon, minute repeater, perpetual calendar, equation of time, and a star chart with astronomical indications. Each complications have their own functions that add up to a whopping 15 complications!

In the front of the dial, the perpetual calendar, equation of time, as well as sunrise and sunset indicators, along with a tourbillon can be found at six o’clock. The watch’s back includes the star chart, sidereal time, indicator for the season and sign of the zodiac, as well as a torque indicator for the repeater mechanism.

All this is powered by the hand-wound cal. 2755-B1, based on a movement originally unveiled in 2005 for the brand’s 275th anniversary. It has a power reserve of 58 hours and is compromised of 839 parts.

The case is made of 18k pink gold measuring at 47mm in diameter. The largeness of the case gives enough space for the hand-engraving. The most beautiful part about the case is that almost every surface of the case is covered with a phoenix motif, rendered in a style that takes loose inspiration from East Asian art.

The price of the Grand Complication Phoenix (ref. 9700C/003R-B187) is “upon request”, however, going by the SFr2m retail price of a similar watch from 2014, expect this to cost significantly more.

The case, in 18kt white or rose gold, measures 46.5mm x 20.8mm. It has a domed AR-coated sapphire crystal, a sapphire display back and it is water resistant to 30 meters. The three arches that cover and encircle the crown on Histoire de Tourbillon 9 – was inspired by the entrance of Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue Salon in New York City.

Movement is the Swiss manual-wind Harry Winston in-house caliber HW4504 with 58 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 50 hours. It is comprised of 408 parts, of which 117 are in the tourbillon. The HW4504 caliber was designed exclusively for Histoire de Tourbillon 9. This development guarantees an exceptional degree of exclusivity, since only 20 models total will be made.

Tourbillons: 1 triaxial tourbillon. Internal carriage: 1 rotation in 45 seconds Intermediate carriage: 1 rotation in 75 seconds. External carriage: 1 rotation in 300 seconds. Fast-rotating series-coupled barrels (1 revolution in 3.2 hours),1 barrel fitted with a spring featuring a sliding brace. It features a Phillips terminal curve and Geneva-style stud. Variable-inertia with 18kt gold adjusting screws. Satin-finished and circular-grained mainplate, titanium bridges, circular satin-brushing and microbeading, titanium tourbillon bridges. Functions are: retrograde jumping hours, retrograde dragging minutes, power reserve with hand indication.

It has a beautiful skeletonized dial with hand beveling. The hour and minute hands circle directly above the movement and point to two zones calibrated with Arabic numerals. The power-reserve indicator at 8 o’clock displays a field and a two-part hand that share a distinctly three-dimensional nature.

The timepiece comes on a black alligator leather strap with 18kt rose gold or platinum thread. Matching with the gold Ardillon buckle.

In the video below, the Tourbillion Perpetual Calendar is shown how it is basically made and manufactured entirely in-house. It begins with hundreds of technical sheets for each and every single component which is later manufactured, being delicately decorated and perfected before being incorporated into this exceptional movement.

In the video below, Watchfinder & Co. features a Hysek Kilada 41mm Tourbillon KN4126R01 and describes it as the cheapest Swiss tourbillion watch on the market. This watch goes for around $23,000 which is a t a more affordable price than the $125,000 Bvlgari torubillion. This Hysek Kilada Tourbillon is 1 of only 8 ever made and is a timepiece which represents the avant-garde nature and strong personality of Hysek as a company. The torubllion can be seen proudly through the dial.

This dial added more uniqueness and rarified nature to it  which was a great idea to add to the Lift tourbillion. The first Hermès Arceau Lift flying tourbillon came out in 2013 inspired by the Double H element that was first used on a lift (elevator) installed in 1923 in Hermès’ flagship boutique. A testament to that era’s love of wrought iron and art deco design, the Double H was created in honor of the marriage of the founder’s grandson, Émile Hermès, to Julie Hollande, the daughter of a local businessman.

The process to make square crystals for the dial includes high glass blowing skills to achieve the crocodile-leather-like look of the Arceau Lift Millefiori’s dial.

In the video below, Watchfinder & Co. will go over a Richard Mille timepiece explaining why it costs so much. The timepiece featured is a RIchard Mille RM011 AK RG Felipe Massa that is priced at £100,000. This watch is a complication, full of different parts and components that make this watch so expensive.

The new timepiece houses the manufacture CFB T3000 calibre, which combines a peripheral automatic winding system with a rotor that moves around the edge of the movement, and a peripherally-mounted tourbillon – both majesties of the house. The tourbillion also features a stop-seconds function to more accurately set the time and rotates on its axis once every minute, allowing it to act as a seconds hand.

A traditional tourbillion usually is mounted to both the main plate and the bridge of the balance wheel, which allows it to rotate on a single axis. On the other hand, the CFB T3000 calibre can be very visible allowing the regulator to be viewed from both above and below. This is all thanks to the tourbillon cage being mounted peripherally. The great feature of this watch takes much pride on its dial.

To further raise the level of this high-end watch,  the pallet and escape wheel are made from silicon, which increases the power reserve to a whopping 65 hours. When looking through the back, the view of the COSC-certified movement can be visible due to the sapphire crystal caseback.

The majesty of this watch is all housed within a 43mm rose-gold case with the crown sitting at 3 o’clock, a signature Manero Collection look. A simple silver colored dial with gold indexes and hands lets the tourbillion take the main stage of the dial.

The Basics:

The new ‘Free Wheel” tourbillion is available in 18k rose or white gold and is 44mm in diameter. The most beautiful part about this timepiece is the highly domed sapphire glass. The watch is actually pretty slim plus its case band that makes it seem as thinner. The lugs introduced have been modified to be more streamlined.

Underneath the domed sapphire glass lays a black made of black slate stone on the rose gold model, or a black honeycomb grid dial for the white gold version.

The gears sit in an elevated position, along with several boomerang-shaped bridges that support the tourbillon and power reserve indicator while the dial forms the stage. The vital moving parts of the watch appear to hover above the dial.

The caseback is fitted with a sapphire crystal with its essential movements. The back of the case may not have the greatest details but the movement is very crucial. Newly developed, in-house and hand-wound UN-176, which offers an impressive seven-day power reserve. The flying tourbillion is equipped with Ulysse Nardin’s hallmark anchor escapement, made entirely from silicon.

To provide constant force,  the Ulysse Nardin Anchor Escapement relies on the unique elasticity of silicon. And instead of a pivot, two perpendicular, buckled blades of silicon on both sides of the frame converge at the pivot point of the lever.

The Ulysse Nardin Executive Tourbillon Free Wheel in rose gold (ref. 1766-176) is priced at US$96,000 or S$147,700, while the white gold version (ref. 1706-176) is US$99,000, or S$152,300.

Many of the complex Reverso watches Jaeger-LeCoultre has released have been rather bulky and thick. On the other hand, this new timepiece is all about elegance and slimness. The 950 platinum case measures at 45.5mm x 27.4mm with Art Deco styles and grooves.

As JLC has always produced fancied double-dialed watches, it is to no surprise that this Reverso tourbillion has two faces. The first dial shows a classic sun-ray brushed blue dial with Dauphine hands and applied indices. The second dial is more technical, with a view of the tourbillion bridge. It displays the movement with on top a silvered grained dial for the independent second time-zone and the night-and-day indicator. The seconds are engraved on the tourbillon cage and pointed by an arrow on the tourbillon bridge as the tourbillion moves counter-clockwise.

To sum up this beautiful tourbillion, the main dial displays hours and minutes and the seconds on the tourbillion. A second time-zone and an indication of the day-and-night on its other dial. This JLC Reverso tourbillion is worn on a well matches blue alligator strap. It will be produced in 50 pieces only and priced at USD 123,000.

At this year’s Baselworld we have seen a new tourbillion released by Breguet. That is the Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5367. The new timepiece features everything a Breguet classic would have, an off-centered dial, Breguet numerals, and of course the amazing tourbillion. The crisp blue hour and minute hands contrast beautifully with the 18k rose gold or platinum and a chocolate hue fluted case-band.
