n 2016 Corum unveiled the round Golden Bridge, departing from the traditional rectangular or tonneau case for the first time. Now Corum debuts a new Golden Bridge in a titanium case coated in black diamond-like carbon (DLC).

The movement, cal. CO 113 is equipped with a variable inertia balance and a barrel with a slipping spring to prevent overwinding, which means the winding mechanism disengages once the mainspring is fully wound. It has also a cool 40-hour power reserve.

The bridge and base plate are made of 18k solid gold, and hand-engraved with a floral motif. The movement can be readily available in either white or pink gold, with the hands, flange and crown in a matching colour of gold.

The Golden Bridge Titane DLC measures the same 43mm in diameter and 8.3mm thick as the 18k gold model, but is markedly more lightweight thanks to the case alloy. The case is rated to up to 30mm in depth.

To finish up this fabulous timepiece, it is available in a sporty-ish style, fitted to a black rubber strap with black-coated titanium folding clasp.

Price and Availability

The Corum Golden Bridge Titane DLC in white gold is priced at SFr23,500 or S$39,700, while the rose gold version is a limited edition of 68 pieces, priced at SFr23,800 or S$40,210.

As a way to pay tribute to the street artists of The Great Depression, Corum came out to release the “Hobo Coin” watch. The five cent coin gained the nickname “poor’s man coin” in 1913. The value of that coin was so low that derelicts with talents attempted to rework these low-value coins in a way to make profits out of them, which led to the name “Hobo Coins.”

Going forth in time, during contemporary times, the hobo coins became very rare and extremely appreciated by collectors. This led to the creation of The Original Hobo Nickel Society that was founded in 1992. Te purpose of this society was to preserve and collect a main part of American Heritage. Russian artist, Aleksey Saburov, was part of this movement. Corum later collaborated with Saburov which gave him the chance to express his unique works of arts in the Coin Watch Collection. Saburov made the part into the dials using a special micro-engraving technique on the silver coins.

Each and every watch in the Hobo Coin Collection is special and unique in its own way. The case on this watch is a 43 mm silver case that looks magnificent. The watch is light and wears with very elegant features. The watch is fitted with a sublime crown crafted in silver and fitted with a gorgeous blue sapphire. The case has a 10 meter water resistance that protects the watch from accidental splashes or rain damage. Aging with the watch is very beautiful as it gives it a nice patina.

The dial created by Aleksey Saburov is impressive as explores “dark” themes to celebrate life during The Great Depression. Another aspect is that Saburov kept alive the works and art of the unknown artists from that era. This work requires painstaking precision to be able to maximize the powerful graphical impact as it is rich in detail.

The dial is very minimalistic as the tie indication is only realized by two slender black baton hands. The simplicity of the watch creates for emphasis on the creation of the dial and beauty of it. The “Hobo Coin ” watch is powered by the calibre CO 082. The 11 1/2”’ (25.60 mm) automatic movement is based on the well know and reliable ETA2892 or Soprod A10. This movement offers a power reserve of 42 hours and is fitted with 21 jewels and lacks the date disk.

On the back of the watch is the reverse side of the coin that features the Liberty. The watch is also fitted with a blue jeans strap which fits the “hobo” theme. The “Hobo” watch is priced at  CHF21,000.

The three dial colors include brown, blue or green, sunbrushed with black gradation. The case is made from titanium and measures at 42mm with Selitta SW300, movement. This collection is a great example of the classic and elegant timepieces Corum manufactures.

The number one thing that makes this collection so wondrous is the beauty of the dials and colors. The Sunday finishes give it nice radiant looks.
