AP was founded in a small town called Le Brassus, in 1875. It is in the heart of Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. Back then Vallée de Joux was mostly known for its mountain ranges and its farming. Louis Moinet has recently celebrated their 250 year anniversary. Following their anniversary we will review a beautiful Louis Moinet Ultravox. The way they stage their complications is something Louis Moinet is famous for.

The feature that stands out most in this timepiece is a rare complication:the hour strike ‘au passage’, displaying its striking mechanism up front, on the dial. The complication in this Louis Moinet can be very admired since it is not beneath the dial hidden.

As you can see in the picture above, the entire beauty of this complication is exposed which shows the mesmerising ballet of its hammer, rack, fly-wheel, levers and other mechanical processes taking place dial-side.

The eye-catching plate can be seen with a “Moinet blue” which contrasts beautifully the stainless steel parts in the complication. The 18k pink gold of the case is crisp and is a definite eye-catcher. The Louis Moinet Ultravox strikes every hour with the appropriate number of chimes.
